Rodasol Insect Repellant: Stop Violence!

Relpipe Returns...

Relpipe is a division of the Reliance Industries that manufacturers pipes that are used across sectors like irrigation, housing, infrastructure development, water supply, etc. I like these ads by Saatchi and Saatchi because of the benefits that are so clearly depicted that even the layman can understand them.
The previous campaign for Relpipe was something that was very different and you could have a look at it here. It was done by Mudra DDB and was also nominated for the Communication Arts Annual.

Toppers!

Agency : Shine Advertising, Madison Wisconsin >> Creative Director : Mike Kriefski >> Art Director : John Krull >> Copywriter : James Breen

Gimme a Heineken!

I dont know the agency that did this but it indeed is one of the coolest innovations around. It's kinda subtle but it works like magic when it does hit you. May be a few of you could also consider it a wee bit freaky too!

Europe One 104.7 FM!

Headline: Is the war of the sexes really over?

Headline: Should we fear the Chinese?

Headline: How far will we let things go before money takes over sport?

Headline: Is religion the only thing we can't joke about?

Headline: Is France allergic to reforms?

Europe 1 is the type of radio station that isn't scared to discuss such topics - no matter how taboo.

3 Wise Men?

It's so amazing how a campaign like this can get appreciated in another country. If an Indian Brand did this, you know what they could expect from the markets! 3 Wise Men is a New Zealand Company that manufactures of shirts for men. Their print ads and metrolites featured mannequins doing real things like chundering on their way home after a big night, etc. The campaign was meant to announce 3WM's new store in High St Auckland. The agency here is Ogilvy, NZ.

The Surf Museum!

I saw these ads and the first thing I loved was their sense of Art Direction. They reminded me of the Virginia Holocaust Museum Ads and a I then found out that the AD on these ads was Christopher Gyorgy, the same dude from the martin agency who did the Virginia Holocaust Museum Ads. I definetely think both the campaigns look extremely similar and I love those so much. All said and done these ads are great too.
Agency: Young & Rubicam, Irvine. ViA: Goodness

A Picture in Words!

Thanks to Woei Hern from Dentsu, Malaysia for sending in this ad for Canon Pixma Photo printers. Though the style is a wee bit familiar, it has been executed well. The headline reads: Paint more than a thousand words with PIXMA Photo Printers.

Levi's Girls

Do these ads for Levi's have an idea hidden in them?? Marissa, Mary Lynne & Patty Anne...any of you see something I don't?

Heinz Hot Ketchup!

Oil of Olay Anti-ageing Cream!

Red Rash!

A really cool way to promote a skin cream/medication called Desitin that prevents skin rashes especially near the buttocks. The idea here was to promote the cream by using the centrespine of magazines thereby making it more relevant to the consumer. Lovely idea. If you know the agency, leave a comment.

Dogs Are Not Toys!

If you own a pet or are an animal lover, you should really feel something when you see these ads. Are these ads doing the same??

Adidas - Forever Sport!

Shoe Mart from Dubai!

The Classic Partnership in Dubai seems to be doing a lot of great work. This is the third post in 2 weeks and this is a campaign for 'The Shoe Mart' that has broken out across the Middle East. But I may have a small worry...are they getting too alike??

Sometimes too many similar looking stuff from the same agency may not be a great thing. Look at the campaign below. Are they similar or am I just over-reacting??

Splash in Dubai!

Thanks to John Mani from The Classic Partnership Advertising, in Dubai for sending in the latest Splash Campaign that has broken out in the UAE in mainline magazines and on billboards. Like Mani tells me, the ads do have a nice sense of art direction to them. I think they are quite surreal in a way. And that is an aspect that makes them pretty interesting.
Splash is a Dubai based fashion company that was started in 1993. Over the years, Splash has given birth to several fashion brands like Zync, Nexus, Scarlet, Retro and Ms. Splash currently has 55 stores across the globe and also stocks several international brands like Kappa, Lee Cooper and Bossini amongst others.

It's a Roller Coaster Ride!

This is a great post to start a week with. It's a little late by a week or so but it's still such a cool idea that had to be shared. Hopi Hari is an amusement park in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Hopi Hari hired the QG Propaganda agency to create a promotion for their rollercoasters. The park is owned by Grand Prix Enterprises and it is one of the biggest theme parks of Brazil. Coolzor also gives us a bird eye’s view in Google Maps. Amazing stuff!

Visine - Red Eye!

A really cool ad from JWT, Chile for Visine. A medication that heals red eyes. This page of the daily newspaper was printed in RED! It's an idea you'll instantly appreciate and I doubt you'll forget the product either. Lovely work here!

Ripley's On Red Sky

SABC 3 - The Hoax!

Orchard - The Way We Do It!

I was recently skimming through the websites of Indian Agencies. When I reached Orchard (the name given to Leo Burnett in South India), I did not find a website but instead I found this. I could call it the Human Aspect of Advertising. Thanks, Orchard!

The Home Centre Leather Camp

Thanks to John Mani from The Classic Partnership, Dubai for sending in this ad for the Home Centre (An equivalent of the Homestore in India). I like the idea here. It's different and eye-catching and considering the fact that these ads do talk to an evolved audience, I think they should work fine!

WWF - National Tree Day

Thanks to Tatiana from Full Jazz, Brazil for sending in his campaign for WWF. September 21st is the National Tree Day in Brazil and these ads were made to promote the same.

The Fitness Company Bag!

Another bag for a health club called the Fitness Company. Interesting one this! Agency: Publicis FFM

Netflorist...

Here's an ad for an online flower delivery portal called Netflorist (SA's largest flower and gifting service). The ad is quite simple and sweet. It just shows hundreds of pictures where women are related to flowers like floral bedspreds, floral umbrellas, floral lampshades, floral lingerie, floral watches, etc. thereby telling us that flowers work!

Typefaces That Save Trees!

Ouch! Did I just see this somewhere or am I just hallucinating?? Maybe I did see it here after all!

Joins Anything!

This print ad demonstrates the superglue’s power in mending cracks. The product tagline says ‘Bonds in Seconds’. – Alteco 110 Super Glue – Agency: Ad Planet Group, Singapore.
This ad reminded me of an ad that was done when I was at Contract Advertising a few years ago. It was a chocolate bar from Cadburys...can't recall the name for sure...the ad was released on Independence Day and showed India and Pakistan joint as a single country! The ad led to wide protests and was highly politicised too...it is amazing how the same idea can draw different reactions in different parts of the globe! It pays to know your territory!

Straight From The Heart!

Just this morning I had a post from Titus Upputuru on the Brief Blog about how copy ads were dying a painful death! It was absolute delight to see these posters done at Watermelon, Bangalore in my Inbox this evening.
I think these posters do a brilliant job of communicating the true message of the event by a Group of Musicians...they say you can feel the magic of words when they are written from the heart, these posters have that feeling. Superb stuff guys. Thanks for keeping the written word alive!

Are these 2 ads for a brand of Thesaurus?? Or are they for some other client? And who made these ads? Too many questions out here!

Save the WORD!

An open letter to advertising copyrwiters throughout the region, from Titus Upputuru, from WordSociety, New Delhi, India:
This letter is from one Copywriter to another. I was going through the results of the award shows this year and was saddened to notice a death. The Word has almost disappeared.
In most ads, there are just one or two. (There are a few exceptions though, and the outdoor Grand Prix at Cannes gives me hope.)
In many, there are none at all.
I was wondering what happened to the Copywriter. When did we stop writing Copy? And when I say Copy I do not mean the long copy masterpiece that we all set out to make at least once in our lifetime.
When was the last time we wrote a good, full-bodied headline, even? Was it because the Client had rejected the picture-only ad so many times that we had no option left but to do a headline ad?
This email is an initiative to 'Save The Word'.
If you would like to join this movement, contribute by doing the following:
1) Do your next five ads or campaigns with headlines, irrespective of brand guidelines.
2) Pick an old One Show/D&AD Annual and photocopy copy-led ads and paste them up all over the agency.
3) Dnt wrt lke ths.
4) If you are a Creative Director, ask your writers to show a headline, with every visual-led ad that they show.
5) Hire writers who have at least ten headlines in their portfolio.
6) Spread the word. Send this email to all the copywriters you know.
You can add more to the list.
The only way, we are going to Save The Word is by getting together and ensuring that we see more Copy in the media. For that to happen, this email needs to find legs and travel far and wide. So, please forward this to as many Copywriters in the world as you can.

For Women Only!

Would be it correct to say that men are more weird than women? I mean weird in a way that means adventurous or stupidity in certain ways...look at the ads above for a company that insures cars that are owned by women only! I laughed at the ads and I like the premise here...just a wigglin query if men were what they are portrayed to be above??

Recycle Your Coke!

WOW! This print ad from JWT, Milan for Glassex Window Cleaner is really really cool. I like it for 2 reasons other than the idea itself...it gives me a break from all those ads that show me birds and insects and dragons and demons and people either falling or hurting themselves after walking into transparent glass...seen a billion of those! And secondly the whole deal of just an image and the product...so bloody simple that anybody and everybody loves the idea. Terrific! VIA

Pregnant on Non-Alcoholic Beer!

I can't even think of a campaign like this getting released in a country like mine! The deal here is that alcoholic beverages generally use slim, sexy and svelte figures for their ads so Nova Schin decided to use pregnant ones for their Non-Alcoholic Beer! Anybody knows the agency, comment!

Safeguard Yourself!

The Chinese Cartwheel!

Freddy Birdy & Naved Akhtar created this campaign when they were at Mudra several years ago. The duo now have their own advertising agency called 'The Shop' in New Delhi. This campaign won a lot of awards at several fests and is also featured in the Indian Copy Book.
Would you really believe that a campaign like thise would work today? If you really do, then why do we see such less advertising with long copy or even ads dominated by copy these days...a visual and a line seems to be the norm almost everywhere! via

The first ad for Harley Davidson Test Drives was done by Loducca Publicidade Ltd in SĆ£o Paulo. I really think these ads for Welt Kompakt, a newspaper from Germany really rock! A brilliant idea that is well executed, to perfection one could say. It's going to be a long time before I could get them out of my senses! Unfortunately I don't know the agency that did these...if you do, please leave a comment.

Thanks to Trilokjit Sengupta from Saints & Warriors, Mumbai (dig that name!) for the Sale at the Piramyd Megastore. I really like these ads for the fresh thought they bring along. I don't know if they would drag me to the sale but they definetely ensure that I know one is going on which is the objective of course. It's amazig how good stuff gets done when you work with really tight deadlines, like he was explaining. I saw these ads and was like 'wtf does that mean??!!' and they then made sense.
