I think it's trying to show all of the places that DHL goes. I think it's a reference to when you put a pin in your map to show the places in the world that you have visited.
They are pins. With them, the DHL show that delivers your package in all the places on the earth.
We use pins to mark location of interest/presence in a map.
Here DHL tries to say that they are present everywhere or they cover everwhere.
I think it's like when you have a map and put a pin in every place you have been. I think that's the idea behind this ad...
It could be every places that DHL go; the inchs indicate it. Sorry my English.
They are trying to say that putting a pin in every place DHL delivers creates a world map. That's how enormous their coverage is
